Ready for the Bot Future

A weekly faith-based small group for military service members, veterans, and service-trade workers who are getting ready for AI-run service work.

It is a 12-week series. It is free. It is education only: not financial, tax, or legal advice, and not a pitch for any company. Sessions are taught in person and on YouTube. Video descriptions point here.

Week 1: Understanding the Times

The truck does the work. The bot runs the office.

Group ground rules

  1. What's shared in discussion stays in the room.
  2. No one is put on the spot. Passing is always OK.
  3. No selling, recruiting, or pitching.
  4. Respect every rank, trade, background, and faith journey.
  5. Service members: practice OPSEC. No unit, movement, or deployment details.

Part 1: Scripture anchor

1 Chronicles 12:32 (KJV)

And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

The sons of Issachar were remembered for two things:

  1. They had of the times. (awareness)
  2. They knew what they to do. (action)

Awareness without action is just .

Action without awareness is just .

Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

New doesn't have to mean scary. New can mean a through.

Part 2: What's changing: AI-run service marketplaces

More and more, service work is organized by AI and software instead of a traditional front office. This isn't one company. It's a of working spreading across the industry.

The new job flow

Step What happens
1. Intake A customer calls or messages, and an answers, often around the clock, and books the job.
2. Booking & payment The customer often pays or authorizes payment up front. The money is often held until the job is .
3. Matching & dispatch Software matches the job to a worker by , , and availability. The worker gets the job on a .
4. The work A real shows up and does the job. (This is the truck.)
5. Proof The worker documents the job with -and- photos and notes.
6. Review & payout The customer rates the work, payment is released, and the rating becomes part of the worker's .

In this world, reputation becomes . It follows you from job to job.

Platforms keep checking licenses, insurance, background, and quality history. It's not a one-time check. It's .

Three questions we'll ask all series

  1. Is my strong? (a real skill, done with excellence)
  2. Can I work with the ? (instruct, check, escalate)
  3. Can I be ? (character, reputation, integrity)

Part 3: Mission translation: situational awareness

Military: You don't step off on a mission without the brief. You have to know the terrain.

Civilian: Before you plan your next career move, get the intel brief on your .

What's one thing about your field (or the field you're headed into) that you need to understand better?

Part 4: Discussion questions

Watching on YouTube? Pause the video and talk these through with your group, family, or crew.

  1. Where have you already run into AI or automation this past month: calling a company, at work, on your phone? How did it feel?
  2. Think about your own work, past or present. Which parts are "truck" work (hands-on, people-facing) and which parts are "office" work that a bot could handle?
  3. The sons of Issachar "understood the times" and "knew what to do." Which comes more naturally to you, awareness or action? Why?
  4. What's one hope and one concern you have about where service work is headed?

    Hope: Concern:

  5. (Veterans) What military skill will matter most in a bot-run world? (Everyone) What skill from your life or work will still matter most?

Part 5: Workshop: where do people add value?

For each step, write what the bot is doing and where a human still adds value.

Step What's the bot doing? Where does a human still add value?
1. Intake Answers calls, asks questions, books the job Complicated or emergency calls, upset customers, catching AI mistakes
2. Booking & payment
3. Matching & dispatch
4. The work
5. Proof
6. Review & payout

Circle the one or two steps where you could add the most value right now. Why?

Part 6: Personal reflection

  1. When you think about AI and bots changing service work, what's your honest first reaction? (Circle any.)

Excited · Uneasy · Curious · Skeptical · Overwhelmed · Ready · Not sure yet

  2. What "wilderness" or season of change are you walking through right now?
  3. Where do you need God to "make a way" for you in this season?
  4. What's one thing you already have (a skill, a habit, an experience) that you believe will still matter no matter how much work gets automated?

This week's action step

1. Be an Issachar: spot 3

Pay attention this week. Write down three places where AI or automation touched your life (a phone call, a text, an app, something at work).

# Where did AI or automation show up? Was there a human in the loop? Should there have been?
1
2
3

2. Where I am / where I'm headed

Where I am (today) Where I'm headed (one year from now)
My work / role
My strongest skill ("my truck")
My comfort with tech & AI tools ("the bot")
My reputation: what people would say about my work
One thing I want God's help with

You don't have to have it all figured out. That's what the next eleven weeks are for.
